World Medical Association Secretary General awarded Honorary Degree


Dr Otmar Kloiber, Secretary General of the World Medical Association, has been awarded a Honorary Doctorate Degree by the Medical and Pharmaceutical University, “Victor Babes”, in Timisoara, Romania.

Dr. Kloiber, who studied medicine at the University of Cologne, spent five years as a research assistant at the Max-Planck-Institute for Neurological Research in Cologne, before joining the staff of the German Medical Association, where he rose to become Deputy Secretary General. He took over as Secretary General of the World Medical Association last year.

He received his Honorary Degree at a ceremony at the university last week.
