WMA ANNUAL GENERAL ASSEMBLY 2024 – HELSINKI

The World Medical Association’s annual General Assembly will be held at the Scandic Marina Congress Center, Helsinki from 16-19 October 2024.

The programme of the meeting will be:

Wednesday 16 October:     Council and Committees

Thursday 17 October:         Committees
Scientific Session: “Inequalities in health and health care – how to tackle them?”

Friday 18 October am:        Assembly Ceremonial Session

Saturday 19 October:          General Assembly

 

Journalists are invited to attend the Scientific Session, the Assembly Ceremonial Session and the General Assembly.

The keynote speaker at the Scientific Session will be Sir Michael Marmot, WMA Past President, on the topic Social Justice and Health Equity. Physician leaders from throughout the world will participate in panel sessions on related topics.

At the Ceremonial Session on Friday morning, Dr Ashok Philip, a past President of the Malaysian Medical Association, will be installed as WMA President for 2024-25.

The main presentation at the General Assembly on Saturday will be made by Dr Jack Resneck Jr., Chair of Workgroup on DoH who will speak on The Declaration of Helsinki: Development of the Current Proposed Revisions. Dr Catharina Boehme, Assistant Director, External Relations and Governance, at the World Health Organization, and Dr Christian Keijzer, President, of the Standing Committee of European Physicians (CMPE), will also be speakers.
