WVA mission and vision
Mission
To provide global leadership for the veterinary profession and promote animal health
and welfare and public health, through advocacy, education, and partnership.
Vision
The World Veterinary Association is recognised and respected as the trusted and
influential voice of global veterinary medicine.
WVA Strategy
WVA Strategic Plan 2020 – 2025
The WVA Council adopted the WVA Strategic Planning Working Group’s proposal for the
2020 – 2025 WVA Strategy. Understanding there are limitless issues of importance, and
taking into consideration the input received from Constituent Members, key partners, and
the WVA Council in the pre-meeting surveys, the WVA elected to focus on 4 main objectives:
• Animal Welfare
• Medicines Stewardship
• Veterinary Education
• One Health
Each Objective is developed by a dedicated Working Group, chaired by a Council member.

The Council comprises the President, President Elect, Immediate Past President, and 14 elected
representatives from different world regions and International Organisations members.
WVA Committees and Working Groups
The WVA Committees and Working Groups comprise the Council members and Ad hoc members that
are nominated by the WVA member associations to support and to strengthen the work and expertise
of these groups.
WVA Secretariat
The WVA secretariat is responsible for the daily management of the Association, communication,
maintenance and development of Membership.
