“Strengthening collaboration between Physicians and Veterinarians”
The World Veterinary Association (WVA) and the World Medical Association (WMA) in collaboration with the Spanish Medical and Veterinary associations are inviting you to participate at the Global Conference on ‘One Health’ Concept to be held on 21st and 22nd of May in Madrid, Spain (Vía de los Poblados, 3, A.M.A Parque Empresarial Cristalia – Edificio 4).
The Global Conference aims to bring together Veterinarians, Physicians, Students, Public Health Officials, NGOs and others from the different world regions to learn, discuss and to address critical aspects of the ‘One Health’ Concept.
The main objectives of the conference are to strengthen the links and communications and to achieve closer collaboration between Physicians, Veterinarians and all appropriate stakeholders to improve the different aspects of health and welfare of humans, animals and the environment.

- Natural disaster management – Preparedness and vet-med collaboration
- Environmental hazards exposure to humans and animals

Madrid in brief and practical information
Climate
The average temperature in May in Madrid max 22 and min 8 degrees Centigrade.
Drinking water
The tap water from many of the major cities in Spain is potable. Bottled water can be bought in supermarkets, kiosks, gas stations and delis.
Currency
The national currency is the euro. Major credit cards are widely accepted. Currency may be exchanged in the tourist information offices or in an exchange bureau.
Electricity
Spain uses the 220V voltage level and a frequency of 50 Hz. Electric appliances use plus with two round pins. Plug adapters are available at stores selling electrical goods and at most international airports.
Passport and Visas
Spain takes part in the Schengen co-operation and hence nationals from countries within the Schengen area do not have to show their passport when entering Spain, but it is recommended to bring your passport.
For all nationalities, it would be prudent to check the latest regulations with the nearest Spanish consulate or embassy. There is a list of embassies and consulates for all countries here. The official Spanish Tourist Board information about entry requirements is here.

Tipping
At almost all restaurants, service is included, but it is common practice to leave a tip or around 10%.

Participants are advised to purchase medical insurance prior to this trip.
