MELBOURNE HEALTH SUMMIT MEMORANDUM
SOCIAL DETERMINANTS OF HEALTH
The H20 Health (Melbourne 2014) Summit has resolved that
addressing the Social Determinants of Health is a core
strategy for a fair and just Society. We stand prepared to
work with the Worlds’ Leaders, including those at the G20
Australia, to act on and address the Social Determinants of
Health and request that the G20 Australia secretariat
progress this.
“The Social Determinants of Health, Health inequality among people
between and within countries is significant and constitutes an urgent
issue of social justice. It is clear that these health inequalities are the
result of differences in living conditions; the environment in which a
person is born, grows, lives, works, ages, and dies. The International
community including the health sector, must redouble our efforts to
address these and reach a more fair and just society.”
