Dear Colleagues and Friends,
Today we received the sad news that Dr Anthea Mowat passed away late last night.
Anthea has been a friend and colleague to us who engaged in the World Medical Association in
various functions. She served as a delegate of the British Medical Association to the WMA General
Assembly and Council; she took part as an Associate Member, and she finally served as Chair of
the Associate Members when the then Chair Joe Heyman got terminally ill.
For organized medicine, it is the loss of a brilliant, constructive and charming person, whose
outstanding leadership and friendly support was always looking for the common good.
We mourn with Anthea’s husband, colleague and companion, Dr Andrew Mowat and their two
daughters. Our thoughts are with them, and our gratefulness remains.
An obituary will be published in the World Medical Journal.
